Nehemiah Rebuilt the Walls (Nehemiah 1-7)
Bible Story Summary: Nehemiah lived in Persia. The king let him go home to Jerusalem to help the people. Nehemiah led the people to rebuild the walls. Nehemiah trusted God to protect them. The walls were rebuilt, and God’s people were safe.
Big Picture Q&A: How should we feel when we sin? When we sin, we should feel sorry that we have disobeyed God and want to turn from our sin because we love Him.
Christ Connection: Nehemiah led the people to rebuild the walls around Jerusalem to protect them from their enemies. Jesus came to protect us from our greatest enemies, sin and death. He died on the cross and rose from the dead to rescue everyone who trusts in Him.
Family Discussion Starters:
Why were God’s people in Jerusalem in trouble?
What did Nehemiah tell the people when they were discouraged?
Family Activity: Use uncooked spaghetti noodles and marshmallows to see which family member can build the tallest and longest wall. If someone has trouble or gets frustrated, encourage other family members to step in and help. Discuss how God used Nehemiah to rebuild the wall that protected His people and how Jesus protects us from sin.

The Young Hero and the Horrible Giant
Pg. 122-129 | 1 Samuel 17 | Video
Introduction: David was a small child facing a giant. In this moment, David’s strength did not come from within but from God. David trusted God and this enabled him to save the people of Israel. We, like David, need to look to God in faith for rescue because our own strength is not enough.
Big Truth: God sent a Savior
Our hearts are broken and our world is broken. Because we can’t fix things, we need a savior to make things right and restore relationships. Thankfully, God sent Jesus and the victory over sin and death is already won!
Activity: Reenact the story with your family members playing different parts. Have some of them play the role of the Israelites, one play David, and one play the giant. Emphasize the fear of the people and that God was the one who saves. Remind them that it was God’s strength, not David’s courage, that saved them.

Found (Psalm 23)
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. 2 He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. 3 He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. 4 Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. 5 You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. 6 Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.
Play: I Spy – Take turns “spying” things around the room. Tell your child that Jesus always sees him and cares for him. As God’s children, we are never lost, because in Him we are found.

Our God: A Shapes Primer
“Almighty God, you are visible in all your glorious creation. Grant us eyes to see you in our everyday world, that beholding your glory, we may be shaped by your Spirit ever more in your image. Amen”
This book presents different shapes and passages that relate to them throughout the Bible. As you go throughout the week, point out different shapes to your Littles and explain how to identify different shapes (i.e. triangles have three sides, circles have no sides, etc.). Tell them that one way God loves us is by helping us learn.

God Helps Me Learn
From Birth to 1, our babies are learning exponentially! As you notice your Littles learning new things such as how to hold a bottle, how to smile, how to crawl, remind them that God helps us learn! Thank God for giving your baby a mind and the ability to learn and grow.
