Who is the Redeemer

The only Redeemer is the Lord Jesus Christ.

MV: “For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” 1 Timothy 2:5

Every person is a slave to sin. In order to be freed, we must be redeemed; a price must be paid in order to secure a release. The aim of this lesson is the help our kids understand that Jesus Christ is the Redeemer and that he alone can secure their freedom from sin.

Scripture Memory

Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the splendor and the majesty, for everything in the heavens and on earth belongs to you. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom, and you are exalted as head over all.”

Jesus Taught about God’s Kingdom (Matthew 13)

Bible Story Summary: Jesus taught that God’s kingdom may seem small like a mustard seed or yeast in bread, but it is growing. Jesus taught how His kingdom is valuable like a hidden treasure or a priceless pearl. Jesus said God will separate people who trust in Him from those who don’t.

Big Picture Q&A: What did Jesus teach when He was on earth? Jesus taught about God and His kingdom. He taught that all Scripture is about Him.

Christ Connection: The kingdom of God is growing in the world. This kingdom is valuable and worth giving everything for. While we wait for Jesus to return and fully set up His kingdom, we carry out the mission of telling others about King Jesus, who rescues sinners.

Family Discussion Starters:

  • What were the different parables Jesus taught to describe God’s kingdom?
  • Why is the kingdom of God most valuable?

Family Activity: Collect missionary prayer cards from your church or visit www.imb.org to identify different countries where missionaries are serving. Display a world map and locate the missionaries’ countries. Discuss how God’s kingdom is growing in the world. Pray for the missionaries and encourage kids to share Jesus with others.

Scripture Memory

It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to sing praises to the Most High.”

Psalm 92:1

Running Away

Pg. 272-279 | Luke 15

Introduction: This story is about the son who left his father to chase a life of false freedom, only to return to his father who welcomed him back with open arms! God’s love towards His children is unconditional. No matter what a person has done or how long she stays away from God, He is always waiting to welcome her back if she will return to Him!

Big Truth: God wants to talk with us.

God wants a relationship with us. A great way to pursue this is prayer. God is a loving Father who delights in talking with His children. We can pray anytime, anywhere. Prayer is an opportunity to pour out our hearts to God.

Activity: Sing “Jesus Loves Me” and explain that God’s love is so big that He will always welcome us back when we have walked away from Him.

The Man who would not be Quite

This story comes from Mark 10:46-52. Bartimaeus was a blind beggar, but he could see who Jesus really was. He called Jesus the “Son of David”, another name for the Christ, God’s promised perfect King, who would be from the family of King David. So in this story we call Jesus “the best King ever! The one God said was coming!” Bartimaeus believed that Jesus was the promised King, and also that Jesus could heal him. Bartimaeus believed in Jesus and followed him. Jesus welcomes everyone who believes in him and wants to follow him.

Jesus makes things better…and not just eyes. The Bible tells us that we are separated from God by our sin—the wrong things we do, say and thing. Jesus came to make this better. If we trust in Jesus, we can have our sin forgiven and be friends with God forever.

Play: Play “Red Light, Green Light”, but instead of moment use noise. When you say “green light” the Littles can be loud. When you say “red light” they are silent. “Yellow light” is a whisper.

Big Theology for Little Hearts: The Gospel

Our lesson for Sunday was “Jesus is Alive!” and we read The Gospel by Devon Provencher. This book presents words and phrases that relate to the gospel: God, man, rebellion, punishment, Jesus, perfect man, sacrifice, resurrection, response, eternal life.. From these pages, our Littles are learning foundational truths about how much God loves them.

WRL Babies
Jesus was born.

This week’s biblical concept for our babies is “Jesus was born.” Jesus is Immanuel, God with us. God didn’t leave us alone in our sin, but sent his Son in order to save us. Speak John 3:16 over your child, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him will not perish, but have everlasting life,” and pray that he or she would come to believe in Jesus as their Lord and Savior from a young age.
