New City Catechism Q&A 46
What is the Lord’s Supper?
Christ commanded all Christians to eat bread and to drink from the cup in thankful remembrance of him.
MV: “For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.” 1 Corinthians 11:26
One of the purposes of the Lord’s Supper is to nurture thankful remembrance among God’s people. The aim of this week’s lesson is to help the kids understand that Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper so that Christians would remember all that he achieved through his death on the cross. The support passage for this lesson is 1 Corinthians 11:17-34.

Jesus Warned about Stewarding Your Life Well (Mt 25)
Bible Story Summary: Jesus told a parable about three servants who were each given a specific number of talents from their master. Two of the servants were faithful with the talents they were given. They received more in return and entered into their master’s joy. The third servant was evil and unfaithful. He had his talent taken away.
Big Picture Q&A: How is Jesus the perfect Prophet? Jesus perfectly reveals God the Father and fulfills what the prophets spoke.
Christ Connection: Every believer, as a servant of Christ, has the task of serving God with his or her life. We eagerly wait for the day we can share in the joy of our Master. Heaven is the joy of knowing, worshiping, and enjoying Jesus forever.
Family Discussion Starters:
- How did the servants use their master’s money in different ways?
- How can we serve God with our lives?
Family Activity: Ask kids to brainstorm ideas for how they would use $20 to support the work of a missionary. Encourage them to think about how they could combine the money with their time and talents to actually raise more money. Let kids pitch their ideas to the family as if they are prospective entrepreneurs.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.“
A Dream from Heaven
Pg. 342-350 | Rev. 1, 5, 21, 22
Introduction: One day, Jesus will return and all things seen and unseen will be made new! No more pain, brokenness, or tears. The revelation that Jesus gives to John is one of hope for a future renewal of all things. Now we all have this great hope, knowing that Jesus will return!
Big Truth: God is making all things new
God created all things good, but everything was broken when Adam and Eve rebelled against God. However, through Christ, God is making all things new. He is restoring them to how they were supposed to be.
Activity: Sing “Hallelujah! Praise Ye the Lord!”. Explain that we sing worship music to God not just because of what He has done, but also because of what He will do!

Moses and the Very Big Rescue
After being slaves in Egypt for years, God rose up a leader, Moses, to lead His people out of Egypt to the Promised Land. Moses told Pharaoh to let God’s people go 9 times, and finally, on the 10th time, Pharaoh let them go. As they were leaving Egypt, Pharaoh changed his mind and chased after God’s people, but by God’s power, Moses was able to part the sea and the Israelites escaped to safety. Moses and the rest of God’s people praised God for His great rescue!
Play: Make different instruments and sing, dance, and celebrate as a family all God has done for you! Keep the spirit of Thanksgiving going in the coming week.

Jesus Heals: An Anatomy Primer
Our lesson for Sunday was “Jesus helps people because He loves them” and we read Jesus Heals.
“Great crowds came to Jesus, and He healed them.” This book presents different body parts and passages that relate to them throughout the Bible. Talk through the different parts of the body with your Littles and see which ones they can point to. Head (Lk 4:39-40); Eyes (Lk 18:41-43); Ears & Mouth (Mk 7:33-35); Back (Lk 13:12-13); Hand (Mk 3:1,5); Legs (Mt 9:2,6-8); Skin (Mt 8:2-3); and Body (Jn 11:32,40-44). As you talk about different body parts throughout the week, teach your child that Jesus helps people because He loves them. You could even sing “Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes” with your Little.
WRL Babies
God cares for other people and me.
This week’s biblical concept for our babies is “God cares for other people and me.” We can teach our Littles about God’s care for our community and the world through this lesson. As you talk with your babies, tell them how much God cares for each of them, their families, friends, etc., and sing Jesus Loves Me.
