Recap Week

This Sunday, we had a morning of fun recapping the questions and Scriptures we’ve learned thus far. We played a recap game and enjoyed donuts. For our kids who have worked on memorizing the questions, answers, and Scriptures, they were given the chance to recite what they’ve memorized and earn tickets towards a prize at the end of the semester.

Scripture Memory

The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own brothers. You must listen to him.”

People Welcomed Jesus as King (Mt 21; Mk 11; Lk 19; Jn 12)

Bible Story Summary: Jesus rode a donkey into Jerusalem just as the prophet Zechariah foretold. Along the way, people spread their robes and palm branches on the road while shouting “Hosanna!” The religious leaders were angry at the people’s praises. King Jesus is worthy of praise.

Big Picture Q&A: How is Jesus the perfect Prophet? Jesus perfectly reveals God the Father and fulfills what the prophets spoke.

Christ Connection: Jesus is the Messiah spoken about by the prophet Zechariah: “Look, your King is coming to you; He is righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey” (Zechariah 9:9). One day, Jesus will return to earth on a white horse as King over everything.

Family Discussion Starters:

  • Why would it have been surprising to the people for Jesus to ride into Jerusalem on a donkey?
  • What are ways you can praise Jesus each day?

Family Activity: Choose smooth rocks from your yard. Use acrylic paints to decorate the rocks with words of praise to Jesus. Place the rocks in your yard. Jesus told the Pharisees that if the people did not praise Him, then the rocks would cry out and praise Him. Discuss how the rocks remind you to worship Jesus as King.

Scripture Memory

It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to sing praises to the Most High.”

Psalm 92:1

Going Home

Pg. 318-325 | Matt 28, Mk 16, Lk 24, Jn 14 | Video

Introduction: Jesus wants all people to hear that God loves them and that Jesus died and rose for them! After Jesus rose from the dead and before he ascended to heaven, He proved His resurrection to His disciples in order the encourage them. When the disciples believed Jesus was truly risen from the dead, Jesus told them to tell that good news to the world.

Big Truth: God send a Savior

Our hearts are broken and our world is broken. Because we can’t fix things, we need a Savior to make things right and restore relationships. Thankfully, God sent Jesus and now the victory over sin and death is already won!

Activity: Sing “Hallelujah! Praise Ye the Lord!” And tell the children that we sing worship music to God because of who He is and what He has done.

The Friend Who Forgives

Biblical Concept: Jesus taught that I can tell others I’m sorry when I hurt them.

Play: Forgiveness – When Jesus rose from the dead, he forgave Peter for saying they weren’t friends. Can you practice forgiveness? When you do something wrong you can say, “I’m sorry,” and when someone does something wrong to you and they say sorry, you can say, “Thank you for saying sorry, I accept your apology.”

Holy Week: An Emotions Primer

Our biblical lesson for the week is: Jesus is alive! We read Holy Week, which presents different emotions and passages that relate to them throughout the Bible. As you go throughout the week, point out different emotions your Littles are exhibiting and explain that you also have emotions and so does Jesus! Tell them that Jesus is alive and cares about how they feel.

God Helps Me Learn

From Birth to 1, our babies are learning exponentially! As you notice your Littles learning new things such as how to hold a bottle, how to smile, how to crawl, remind them that God helps us learn! Thank God for giving your baby a mind and the ability to learn and grow.
