New City Catechism Q&A 52
What hope does everlasting life hold for us?
That we will live with and enjoy God forever in the new heaven and the new earth, where we will be forever freed from all sin in a renewed, restored creation.
Memory Verse: “3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:3-4
Those who have been redeemed by Christ have the confident hope of spending eternity with the triune God free from sin. The aim of this lesson is the help our kids anticipate eternal life confidently. The Bible passage for this lesson is Revelation 21:1-4.

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin.”

Jesus Shared a Last Meal (Mt 26; Mk 14; Lk 22)
Bible Story Summary: Jesus and His disciples were in Jerusalem to celebrate Passover. Jesus broke bread and gave it to His disciples to eat. He gave them a cup to drink from as well. Jesus said the bread was like His body, which He gave to be broken for us. Jesus said the cup was like the blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Big Picture Q&A: How is Jesus the perfect Priest? Jesus was the perfect sacrifice for sin, and He speaks to God the Father for us today.
Christ Connection: God’s people had broken the old covenant, and God promised to make a new covenant to forgive sins. The new covenant says that everyone who turns away from sin and trusts in Jesus’ death and resurrection will be forgiven of his sins and will have eternal life.
Family Discussion Starters:
- What did Jesus want His disciples to remember when they broke bread and drank from the cup?
- How do we practice the Lord’s Supper in church now?
Family Activity: Jesus had a special Passover meal with His disciples. Host a special dinner and invite friends or family members over to celebrate Jesus’ sacrifice with you. Share what you have learned about the meaning of Passover and its different components.

Scripture Memory
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.“
The Terrible Lie
Pg. 28-37 | Genesis 3
Introduction: Genesis 3 shows us that sin is deeper than just “breaking the rules.” It shows us that the root of sin is not trusting God and wanting to be like Him. Adam and Eve’s sin is passed on to all of us and all our hearts are corrupt. This means God needs to rescue and heal us from sin.
Big Truth: God sent a Savior
Our hearts are broken and our world is broken. Because we can’t fix things, we need a Savior to make things right and restore relationships. Thankfully, God sent Jesus and the victory over sin and death is already won!
Activity: Sing “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands” and explain that God cares for us.

Found (Psalm 23)
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. 2 He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. 3 He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. 4 Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. 5 You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. 6 Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.
Play: I Spy – Take turns “spying” things around the room. Tell your child that Jesus always sees him and cares for him. As God’s children, we are never lost, because in Him we are found.

Big Theology for Little Hearts: JESUS
Our lesson for Sunday was “Jesus loves me” and we read JESUS by Devon Provencher.
Through this lesson, we learned about Jesus’ deity, incarnation, atonement, and resurrection, as well as that he’s king, the Son of God, rescuer, sinless, prophet, and priest.
As you go throughout your week, notice when you encounter the different aspects of who Jesus is and point those truths out to your child. Have a fun dance session with this song.
WRL Babies
God made me special.
This week’s biblical concept for our babies is “God made me special.” We showed the babies their reflection and told them how God made them special and there’s no one else in the world exactly like them. As you interact with your child this week, play with her feet and tell her how God made her feet so she can walk one day. Tell her how God made her ears so can hear your voice. Tell her how God has a plan for her that only she can do, because God made her special.
