Peter Healed a Man (Acts 3)
Bible Story Summary: When Peter and John went to the temple to pray, a man who could not walk asked them for money. Peter said he did not have any money to give but could give the man what he did have. Peter healed the man in the name of Jesus. The man jumped and leaped! He went into the temple, and he praised God.
Big Picture Q&A: Why does God command Christians to tell others about Jesus? We tell others about Jesus so they will hear and believe the good news.
Christ Connection: After Jesus returned to heaven, the Holy Spirit gave the disciples power to begin working. With the power of Jesus’ name, Peter healed a man who was lame. Peter and John showed God’s power and pointed to a greater, spiritual healing found in Jesus.
Family Discussion Starters:
- How was Peter able to heal the man who couldn’t walk?
- How can people see the power of God in our lives?
Family Activity: Lead kids to investigate different objects in their home that require power. Invite kids to share what type of power sources these objects use such as gas, electricity, solar, etc. Talk about the power of the Holy Spirit and how He is greater than any other power. Remind kids that every believer is empowered by the Holy Spirit to live for Jesus and to share Him with others.

The Young Hero and the Horrible Giant
Pg. 122-129 | 1 Samuel 17
Introduction: David was a small child facing a giant. In this moment, David’s strength did not come from within but from God. David trusted God and this enabled him to save the people of Israel. We, like David, need to look to God in faith for rescue because our own strength is not enough.
Big Truth: God sent a Savior!
Our hearts are broken and our world is broken. Because we can’t fix things, we need a savior to make things right and restore relationships. Thankfully, God sent Jesus and the victory over sin and death is already won!
Activity: Reenact the story with your family members playing different parts. Have some of them play the role of the Israelites, one play David, and one play the giant. Emphasize the fear of the people and that God was the one who saves. Remind them that it was God’s strength, not David’s courage, that saved them.

The Garden, the Curtain, and the Cross
This is the story of the gospel! You can watch the story here.
Play: Rip the Curtain – With scrap paper, have the kids tear it up like the curtain tore in the temple when Jesus died. Explain how the curtain separated people from God, but because of Jesus life, death and resurrection, we are no longer separated from God!

Big Theology for Little Hearts: GOD
Our lesson for Sunday was “God is good” and we read GOD by Devon Provencher.
Through this lesson, we learned that God is Creator, King, Trinity, Holy, Eternal, Unchanging, Just, Good, Loving, and worthy of all Glory.
As you go throughout your week, notice when you encounter the different aspects of who God is and point those truths out to your child. Have a fun dance session with this song.
WRL Babies
Jesus grew like me.
This week’s lesson for our babies is “Jesus grew like me.” When you attend a 1 year old’s birthday party, you often see a string of photos showing how they have grown from newborn to 12 months old. We can clearly see how the child has grown. Just like our babies, Jesus grew in his first year. As well as his second, third, and so on. Remind your child that Jesus is both fully God and fully human. As a human, he grew up just like they are. Have fun with it and show your baby photos of you growing up!
