People Rejected Jesus (Luke 4)
Bible Story Summary: Jesus went to His hometown of Nazareth and read the good news about the Messiah from the scroll of Isaiah. Jesus told the people, “Today as you listened to Me reading these words, they came true.” The people were amazed at Jesus’ words. Jesus told the people that He knew they would not believe He was the Messiah unless He performed miracles. The people became angry and rejected Jesus.
Big Picture Q&A: How can we be saved? We are only saved through faith in Jesus.
Christ Connection: Jesus read Isaiah’s words and announced that He is the promised Messiah. The people of Nazareth rejected Jesus because of their unbelief. God invites us to trust in His Son, Jesus. Jesus came into the world to rescue sinners.
Family Discussion Starters:
What did Jesus do in the synagogue?
Why were the people in the synagogue angry?
Have you ever struggled with not believing that Jesus is who He says He is? Why?
Family Activity: Partner with another family to host a neighborhood cookout. Provide sidewalk chalk, yard games, food, and drinks for the neighbors on your street. Use the time to meet people and help them feel welcomed and loved in your community.

Scripture Memory
“It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to sing praises to the Most High.”
Advent: Hope
Nehemiah 8-10; Malachi 1, 3, and 4; Ezra 7 | Jesus Storybook Bible | Pg. 170-175
Summary: God’s rules and law point us to our need for Jesus as a rescuer. The people of Israel were reminded of how they repeatedly turned away from God and how they were unable to follow Him as they should. They realize their need for a rescuer, and God is showing them that He is who they need to depend on.
Big Truth: God sent a Savior
Our hearts are broken and our world is broken. Because we can’t fix things, we need a savior to make things right and restore relationships. Thankfully, God sent Jesus and the victory over sin and death is already won!
Activity: Sing and dance along to the song, “HOPE” and teach your children that God has promised that Jesus will return and all things will be made right again. Therefore, we can have hope in that future assurance, even when our current circumstances seem uncertain.

Noah and the Very Big Boat
This is the story God sparing Noah from the great flood! You can watch the story here.
Play: Name that Animal – Make different animal sounds and see if the kids can guess the animal it belongs to (ex. Monkey, elephant, dog, cat, goat, bear, tiger, etc.) Explain that even though the whole world was bad, bad, bad, God promised to keep Noah and his family safe through the flood. He kept his promise and then made another promise to never flood the earth again.

Big Theology for Little Hearts: THE HOLY SPIRIT
Our lesson for Sunday was “God loves people and is with them,” and we read THE HOLY SPIRIT by Devon Provencher.
WRL Babies
God cares for other people and me.
This week’s biblical concept for our babies is “God cares for other people and me.” We can teach our Littles about God’s care for our community and the world through this lesson. As you talk with your babies, tell them how much God cares for each of them, their families, friends, etc., and sing Jesus Loves Me.
