We are Saved by Faith in Jesus (Hebrews 11)
Bible Story Summary: In the book of Hebrews, we find a list of people who lived by faith. We must have faith in order to please God. These people didn’t get to see God’s promise—the arrival of Jesus—come true, but they believed that God had a wonderful plan. We know today that God’s plan came true. He kept His promise to send the Messiah— His own Son, Jesus—to rescue people from sin.
Big Picture Q&A: How can we be saved? We are only saved through faith in Jesus.
Christ Connection: The Bible gives examples of people who had faith, but the true hero of the Bible is Jesus. Jesus lived a perfect life, died on the cross, and rose from the dead. We are saved from our sins by faith in Jesus.
Family Discussion Starters:
What is faith?
Who in the Bible has shown faith?
How does faith in Jesus give you hope?
Family Activity: Take time to identify “heroes of faith” in your family or church. Talk about the ways they displayed faith in God’s plan and trusted Jesus through different circumstances. Celebrate these heroes by hosting a dinner, writing a card, or calling them on the phone. Thank them for the ways their faith has strengthened your faith in Jesus.

Let’s Go!
Pg. 208-213 | Matthew 4; Mark 1; Luke 4-6 | Video
Introduction: What Jesus shows us through His resistance to temptation in the desert is personal sacrifice to live out what God’s will was for His life. Then He calls His first disciples to sacrifice in order to follow Him. Following Jesus requires personal sacrifice, giving up something good for something better!
Big Truth: God Loves His Children
All that God does and all that God commands for His children stems from His love. No matter what happens in this life, we can trust that God is perfectly loving towards His children.
Activity: Sing “Oh, How I Love Jesus” and explain that the reason we follow Jesus is because He first loved us and gave His life so that we can have a relationship with God!

Noah and the Very Big Boat
This is the story God sparing Noah from the great flood! You can watch the story here.
Play: Name that Animal – Make different animal sounds and see if the kids can guess the animal it belongs to (ex. Monkey, elephant, dog, cat, goat, bear, tiger, etc.) Explain that even though the whole world was bad, bad, bad, God promised to keep Noah and his family safe through the flood. He kept his promise and then made another promise to never flood the earth again.

WRL Babies
God made me special.
This week’s biblical concept for our babies is “God made me special.” We showed the babies their reflection and told them how God made them special and there’s no one else in the world exactly like them. As you interact with your child this week, play with her feet and tell her how God made her feet so she can walk one day. Tell her how God made her ears so can hear your voice. Tell her how God has a plan for her that only she can do, because God made her special.
